Our eye care range includes generic Lumigan: Coolprost, bimatoprost 0.03% eye drops made by Johnlee Pharmaceuticals. Bimatoprost is prescribed to lower raised pressure inside the eye, and because treatment is usually lifelong, a lower price per bottle makes a real difference. A valid prescription is required.
Bimatoprost eye drops for glaucoma
Bimatoprost is a prostaglandin analogue. It increases the drainage of fluid from the eye, which lowers intraocular pressure. It is used for open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension, conditions that can slowly damage the optic nerve if pressure is not controlled.
How to use bimatoprost 0.03%
- One drop in the affected eye(s) once a day, in the evening.
- Remove contact lenses before use and wait 15 minutes before putting them back.
- If you use other eye drops, leave at least 5 minutes between them.
- Do not let the dropper tip touch your eye or any surface.
Possible side effects
Eye redness, itching and darker, longer eyelashes are common. Over time bimatoprost can also darken the coloured part of the eye (iris) and the skin around it; iris colour changes may be permanent. Tell your eye doctor about any eye pain, changes in vision or swelling.
Generic Lumigan vs the brand
Coolprost contains bimatoprost at the same 0.03% strength as Lumigan®. Your eye doctor should monitor your eye pressure after any switch of product.
