What is Careprost?
Careprost is a bimatoprost 0.03% eye drop made by Sun Pharma and supplied in a 3 ml bottle with a sterile applicator brush. Bimatoprost 0.03% is the same active ingredient and strength as Latisse® (for eyelash growth) and the older Lumigan® 0.03% (for raised eye pressure).

Uses of Careprost
Bimatoprost 0.03% is used for:
- Eyelash hypotrichosis – to grow longer, thicker, darker lashes when applied to the upper lash line.
- Raised eye pressure in open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension, when instilled into the eye as directed by an eye doctor.
How does Careprost work?
Bimatoprost is a prostaglandin analogue. On the lashes it lengthens the growth phase of the hair cycle. In the eye it improves the drainage of fluid, lowering pressure inside the eye.
Careprost dosage: how to take it
- For lashes: remove make-up and contact lenses. Put one drop on the sterile applicator brush and draw it along the base of the upper lashes, once each evening. Use a fresh brush each time and blot excess.
- For eye pressure: one drop in the affected eye(s) in the evening, only as your eye doctor directs.
- Results for lashes appear after about 8 weeks and peak at 3 to 4 months.
Careprost side effects
Common: red, itchy or dry eyes, eyelid darkening, eye irritation.
Less common: permanent darkening of the iris (brown), darkening of the eyelid skin, hair growth outside the treated area. Get medical help for eye pain, vision changes, swelling or signs of infection.
Who should not take Careprost?
Do not use if you are allergic to bimatoprost or have an eye infection.
Tell your doctor first if you have glaucoma, eye inflammation, macular oedema, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Remove contact lenses and wait 15 minutes before putting them back. Avoid contact with the skin outside the lash line.
Careprost drug interactions
Do not use with other prostaglandin eye drops (latanoprost, travoprost) unless your eye doctor advises. If you use other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes between them. Tell your doctor about all medicines you use.
How to store Careprost
Store below 25°C, away from light. Keep the cap on. Discard 28 days after opening. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
