Description

Buy bicalutamide 50 mg tablets online as Calutide 50, a generic Casodex tablet from India. Choose a pack of 30, 60 or 90 tablets above – prices start from $1.82 per tablet, with discreet, tracked worldwide shipping. A valid prescription is required.

What is Calutide 50?

Calutide 50 is a generic Casodex tablet. Each tablet contains 50 mg of bicalutamide – the same active ingredient, at the same strength, as brand-name Casodex® 50 mg. It is an Indian-made generic prescribed by specialists as part of hormone treatment for advanced prostate cancer.

Because Calutide 50 is a generic bicalutamide 50 mg tablet, it works in the same way as the branded medicine at a lower price per tablet – helpful over a treatment that can last for years.

It comes in blister strips of 10 tablets. On this page you can choose a pack of 30, 60 or 90 tablets.

Uses of Calutide 50

Bicalutamide 50 mg is prescribed for men with prostate cancer:

  • Advanced or metastatic prostate cancer – taken together with an LHRH analogue (a hormone injection) or after surgical castration.
  • In some countries it is also used for locally advanced disease or to prevent “tumour flare” when LHRH treatment is started.

Bicalutamide is only for men. It is not used to treat prostate enlargement (BPH) or other conditions. Your specialist will decide whether it is right for you.

How does Calutide 50 work?

Bicalutamide is a non-steroidal anti-androgen. Prostate cancer cells usually depend on male hormones (androgens) such as testosterone to grow. Bicalutamide attaches to the androgen receptors on these cells and blocks the hormones from acting, which slows or stops the growth of the cancer.

How long does it take to work? Bicalutamide builds up in the body over several weeks. It is a long-term treatment, taken every day for as long as your doctor advises.

Calutide 50 dosage: how to take it

  • The usual dose is 50 mg (one tablet) once a day, at around the same time each day.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with water. You can take it with or without food.
  • Treatment is usually combined with an LHRH injection and continues for as long as your oncology team recommends – do not stop without talking to them.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is nearly time for the next one. Never take two doses at once.

If you think you have taken too much, contact a doctor or emergency service straight away.

Calutide 50 side effects

Like all medicines, bicalutamide can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.

Common side effects:

  • Hot flushes
  • Breast tenderness or swelling (gynaecomastia)
  • Tiredness and weakness
  • Nausea, constipation or diarrhoea
  • Itching, dry skin or rash
  • Reduced sex drive

Get medical help immediately if you have:

  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine or severe stomach pain – possible liver problems
  • New or worsening shortness of breath or cough – possible lung inflammation
  • Signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face, lips or throat

Your doctor will usually check your liver function with blood tests during treatment.

Who should not take Calutide 50?

Do not take Calutide 50 if you:

  • Are a woman or a child – bicalutamide is only for men
  • Are allergic to bicalutamide or any other ingredient of the tablet
  • Take terfenadine, astemizole or cisapride

Talk to your doctor first if you have liver problems, heart disease, diabetes, or are taking blood thinners.

Bicalutamide can cause dizziness or tiredness – take care when driving or using machines.

Calutide 50 drug interactions

Tell your doctor about every medicine you take, including those bought without a prescription and herbal products. Important interactions include:

  • Warfarin and other coumarin blood thinners – bicalutamide can increase their effect; your INR will need close monitoring.
  • Ciclosporin and calcium-channel blockers – blood levels may rise; dose changes may be needed.
  • Medicines that affect heart rhythm – for example some anti-arrhythmics and antipsychotics; your doctor will weigh the risks.

How to store Calutide 50

Store Calutide 50 below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light, in the original blister pack. Keep it out of the sight and reach of children, and do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.

Calutide 50 – frequently asked questions

Is Calutide 50 the same as Casodex?

Calutide 50 contains the same active ingredient (bicalutamide) at the same strength (50 mg) as Casodex® 50 mg, so it works in the same way. The difference is the manufacturer, the name, the price and possibly the look of the tablet.

How long will I need to take bicalutamide?

Bicalutamide is usually taken every day for as long as it keeps working and is well tolerated, often for years. Your oncology team will review your treatment with regular PSA and blood tests.

Can bicalutamide be taken on its own?

The 50 mg dose is normally taken together with an LHRH injection or after surgical castration. Taking it alone is a different treatment plan that only your specialist can decide.

Why does bicalutamide cause breast tenderness?

By blocking male hormones it changes the balance of hormones in the body, which can cause breast swelling or tenderness in some men. Tell your doctor – there are ways to manage it.

Do I need a prescription to buy Calutide 50?

Yes. Bicalutamide is a prescription medicine and should only be taken under the care of a doctor or oncology team. We may ask for a copy of your prescription before we dispatch your order.

Do I need blood tests while taking bicalutamide?

Yes. Your doctor will check liver function and PSA regularly. Report any yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine or unusual tiredness straight away.
