Sorafenat 200 is a generic Nexavar tablet made by Natco Pharma. Each tablet contains 200 mg of sorafenib, the same active ingredient and strength as Nexavar®. It is a targeted cancer medicine used for advanced liver, kidney and thyroid cancers.

Uses of Sorafenat 200
Sorafenib is used for:
- Hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) that cannot be removed by surgery.
- Advanced renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer).
- Differentiated thyroid carcinoma that no longer responds to radioactive iodine.
How does Sorafenat 200 work?
Sorafenib is a multi-kinase inhibitor. It blocks several proteins (including RAF, VEGFR and PDGFR) that cancer cells use to grow and to build the new blood vessels that feed a tumour.
Sorafenat 200 dosage: how to take it
- The usual dose is 400 mg (two 200 mg tablets) twice a day, about 12 hours apart.
- Swallow with water on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal) or with a low-fat or moderate-fat meal; avoid high-fat meals.
- Your doctor may lower the dose or pause treatment if side effects are troublesome.
- Blood pressure is checked regularly.
Sorafenat 200 side effects
Common: hand-foot skin reaction (redness, pain, blisters on palms and soles), diarrhoea, rash, hair loss, tiredness, high blood pressure, loss of appetite, nausea, mouth sores.
Serious – get medical help for: chest pain, severe headache or sudden weakness, bleeding or black stools, severe stomach pain, yellowing of the skin or eyes, severe skin reactions.
Who should not take Sorafenat 200?
Do not take Sorafenat if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or are allergic to sorafenib.
Tell your doctor first if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, bleeding problems, liver or kidney disease, or a planned surgery (treatment may be paused). Use effective contraception during and for at least 2 weeks after treatment.
Sorafenat 200 drug interactions
- Warfarin – bleeding risk; monitoring needed.
- Rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, St John’s wort – lower sorafenib levels.
- Doxorubicin, irinotecan, docetaxel – levels may rise.
- Neomycin – can reduce absorption.

How to store Sorafenat 200
Store below 25°C in a dry place in the original bottle, away from light. Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
