Generic Viagra Brands Compared: Cenforce, Fildena, Kamagra and More
Cenforce, Fildena, Kamagra and other generic Viagra brands all contain sildenafil. Compare their strengths, forms and makers, and learn how to choose safely with your prescriber.
- Quality generic medicines
- Prescription required
- Ships to the USA, UK, Canada & Europe
If you have looked into generic Viagra, you will have noticed that the same medicine seems to come under a dozen different names. Cenforce, Fildena, Kamagra, Vaigra, Bawree and others all contain sildenafil citrate, the active ingredient in brand-name Viagra. What differs is the maker, the strength, the form of the dose and, in a few cases, whether a second medicine has been added. This guide compares the sildenafil brands we stock so you can have a better-informed conversation with your prescriber about which one suits you.
Key takeaways
- Every brand in this guide contains sildenafil citrate. The brand name tells you who made it, not that it is a different drug.
- The licensed doses of sildenafil for erectile dysfunction are 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg, taken no more than once in 24 hours.
- 200 mg tablets such as Cenforce 200 are not a licensed dose in the US, UK or EU. Take only the dose your doctor prescribes.
- Oral jelly and sildenafil plus dapoxetine combinations are widely available but are not approved forms in the US or UK.
- Sildenafil must never be taken with nitrates or riociguat. A prescription and a proper medical review are essential.
Why are there so many generic Viagra brands?
Once the patent on sildenafil expired, many pharmaceutical companies began to make their own versions. Each company holds its own licence to manufacture sildenafil citrate and sells its version under its own trade name. That is why you see Cenforce from one manufacturer, Fildena from another and Kamagra from a third. In the same way, a supermarket and a chemist may both sell paracetamol under different labels.
Because all of these products use the same active ingredient, they work in the same way. Sildenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor: it relaxes the blood vessels in the penis so that more blood can flow in when you are sexually aroused. It does not cause an erection on its own and it does not increase desire. If you want to understand how a generic compares with the original Pfizer product, our guide to generic Viagra vs brand Viagra covers that in detail. This article focuses on the brands themselves.
The main practical differences between these brands are:
- Strength – most come as 100 mg, some as 50 mg, and a few as 150 mg or 200 mg.
- Form – standard film-coated tablets, chewable or jelly forms, and combination tablets.
- Manufacturer – different companies, each responsible for its own quality control.
- Pack size and presentation – strips, colours and pack counts vary from brand to brand.

Cenforce
Cenforce is made by Centurion Laboratories and is one of the most widely recognised generic sildenafil brands. Cenforce 100 contains 100 mg of sildenafil, the same as the highest licensed dose of brand Viagra. The range also includes Cenforce 200. We want to be clear about this strength: 200 mg is twice the maximum licensed single dose of sildenafil in the US, UK and EU. Higher doses have not been shown to work better for most men and are more likely to cause side effects such as headache, flushing and drops in blood pressure. Only take Cenforce 200 if a doctor has specifically prescribed that dose for you after reviewing your health.
Fildena
Fildena 100 is produced by Fortune Healthcare. It is a standard 100 mg sildenafil tablet. In terms of active ingredient and dose, it is directly comparable to Cenforce 100 or Kamagra 100 mg. Some men simply prefer one brand’s tablet shape, colour or packaging over another.
Kamagra
Kamagra is made by Ajanta Pharma and has been sold for many years, which is why the name is so familiar in the UK and Europe. The range includes several products:
- Kamagra 100 mg – a standard 100 mg sildenafil tablet.
- Kamagra Gold – available in 50 mg and 100 mg, which is useful if your prescriber wants you to start on a lower dose.
- Kamagra Oral Jelly – 100 mg of sildenafil in a flavoured gel sachet, for men who find tablets hard to swallow.
Note that Kamagra is not licensed for sale in the UK, even though the name is widely known there. This is why a valid prescription and a careful choice of supplier matter so much.
Vaigra
Vaigra 100 is a 100 mg sildenafil citrate tablet. As with the other 100 mg brands, the dose and the active ingredient are the same; the difference lies in the manufacturer and presentation.
Bawree
Bawree-100 is made by Johnlee Pharmaceuticals and contains 100 mg of sildenafil citrate. It is a less well-known name, but it sits in the same category as the other standard 100 mg tablets.
Combination products: Super Kamagra and Super P-Force
Super Kamagra and Super P-Force (made by Sunrise Remedies) combine 100 mg of sildenafil with 60 mg of dapoxetine in a single tablet. Dapoxetine is a short-acting medicine used in some countries to treat premature ejaculation. These combinations are aimed at men who have both erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation. They are not approved in the US or UK, and dapoxetine carries its own cautions, including a risk of fainting and interactions with antidepressants and some other medicines. They should only be considered under a doctor’s direction.
Forms of sildenafil: tablet, jelly or combination
Standard tablets
Film-coated tablets are the most common form and the licensed form of the branded product in the US and UK. They are swallowed whole with water, usually around an hour before sexual activity. A heavy or high-fat meal can delay the effect. For timing and duration, see our article on how long sildenafil lasts.
Oral jelly
Oral jelly contains the same active ingredient in a gel form. Some men find it easier to take than a tablet. Jelly is not an approved dosage form in the US or UK, so there is less regulatory data on it. Each sachet in our range contains 100 mg, so you should not use more than one sachet in 24 hours, and you should not split a sachet to guess at a smaller dose unless your prescriber tells you how.
Combination tablets
Combination products pair sildenafil with a second active ingredient. Taking two medicines at once increases the range of possible side effects and interactions, which is why these products deserve extra care. If you only have erectile dysfunction, a single-ingredient sildenafil tablet is the simpler option to discuss with your doctor.
How to choose with your prescriber
Because the active ingredient is the same, choosing between generic Viagra brands is mostly about matching strength and form to what your doctor has prescribed. These points can help:
- Start with the prescribed dose. Many doctors begin with 50 mg and adjust to 25 mg or 100 mg depending on how well it works and how well you tolerate it. Kamagra Gold is one option if you have been prescribed 50 mg.
- Do not increase the dose yourself. If 100 mg does not work, speak to your doctor rather than moving to a 200 mg tablet. There may be an underlying cause worth investigating, or a different treatment may suit you better.
- Consider your other medicines. Alpha-blockers, some HIV medicines, certain antifungals and some antibiotics can change how sildenafil behaves in your body. Your prescriber may lower your dose.
- Think about the form. If you struggle with tablets, ask whether a jelly is appropriate for you, bearing in mind it is not an approved form in the US or UK.
- Stick with one brand once settled. If a brand works well for you, there is little reason to keep switching, and doing so can make it harder to spot side effects.
When you place an order with us, you will be asked to provide a valid prescription. Our how to order page explains the steps.
Possible side effects
The side effects of these sildenafil brands are the same as for any sildenafil product. The most common include:
- Headache
- Facial flushing
- Indigestion or an upset stomach
- Blocked or runny nose
- Dizziness
- Changes in vision, such as a blue tinge or blurring
- Back or muscle aches
These are usually mild and short-lived. Seek urgent medical help if you have an erection lasting more than four hours, sudden loss of vision or hearing, chest pain, or signs of an allergic reaction. The patient leaflet that comes with your medicine gives a full overview of side effects and when to get help.
Who should not take sildenafil
Sildenafil is not safe for everyone. Do not take any sildenafil brand if you:
- Use any form of nitrate medicine, such as glyceryl trinitrate (GTN) sprays or tablets, isosorbide mononitrate or dinitrate, or recreational “poppers” (amyl nitrite). The combination can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure.
- Take riociguat, a medicine used for certain types of pulmonary hypertension.
- Have been told by a doctor that sexual activity is not safe for you because of a heart condition.
- Have had a recent stroke or heart attack, or have very low blood pressure.
- Have had loss of vision in one eye due to non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (NAION).
- Have a known allergy to sildenafil.
Extra caution and medical advice are needed if you have severe liver or kidney problems, a blood disorder such as sickle cell anaemia, a penile deformity, or an inherited eye condition such as retinitis pigmentosa. Your doctor or pharmacist can go through further precautions and interactions with you.
Avoiding fakes and buying safely with a prescription
Sildenafil is one of the most commonly counterfeited medicines in the world. Fake tablets may contain the wrong amount of sildenafil, a different drug entirely, or no active ingredient at all. To reduce the risk:
- Use a supplier that asks for a prescription. A seller who will supply sildenafil without any medical check is not following basic safety practice.
- Check the packaging. Genuine products should show the brand name, the manufacturer’s name, the strength, a batch number and an expiry date.
- Be wary of unusual strengths or claims. Products promising “extra strong”, “instant” or “herbal” effects, or sold as loose tablets, should raise questions.
- Know your local rules. Rules on importing prescription medicines for personal use differ between the US, UK, EU countries and Canada. Check what applies where you live before ordering.
- Report problems. If a product looks or behaves unexpectedly, stop taking it and speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
At RxPillTab, every order needs a doctor’s prescription, and orders are shipped worldwide by EMS or registered mail in discreet packaging.
Frequently asked questions
Is generic Viagra the same as Viagra?
Generic brands contain the same active ingredient, sildenafil citrate, as brand Viagra and work in the same way. They are made by different manufacturers under their own licences and are not the Pfizer product. Our generic vs brand comparison explains the differences in more depth.
Which is better, Cenforce, Fildena or Kamagra?
At the same strength, Cenforce 100, Fildena 100 and Kamagra 100 mg all contain 100 mg of sildenafil. None is inherently stronger than the others. The choice usually comes down to the strength and form your doctor prescribes and personal preference for a particular tablet or pack.
Is Cenforce 200 safe to take?
200 mg is not a licensed dose of sildenafil in the US, UK or EU, where the maximum is 100 mg once in 24 hours. A higher dose raises the risk of side effects without a proven extra benefit for most men. Only take it if your own doctor has prescribed that dose.
Can I take sildenafil every day?
Sildenafil is taken as needed, no more than once in 24 hours. It is not designed as a daily treatment in the way low-dose tadalafil sometimes is. Ask your doctor if you would prefer a daily option.
Is Kamagra Oral Jelly stronger than a tablet?
No. Each sachet contains 100 mg of sildenafil, the same as a 100 mg tablet. Some people feel the jelly acts slightly faster, but it is not a higher dose and it is not an approved form in the US or UK.
Do I need a prescription for generic sildenafil?
Yes. Sildenafil is a prescription medicine, and we require a valid prescription for every order. A doctor can check that it is safe for you, rule out any interacting medicines and recommend the right dose.
