How does Letzol-Sure 2.5 work?
Letrozole is an aromatase inhibitor. After the menopause, most oestrogen in the body is made when an enzyme called aromatase converts other hormones into oestrogen. Letrozole blocks this enzyme, so oestrogen levels fall sharply. Because hormone-sensitive breast cancer cells need oestrogen to grow, lowering it slows or stops their growth.
How long does it take to work? Letrozole lowers oestrogen within days, but it is a long-term treatment. Its benefit comes from taking it every day for the full period your doctor recommends – often 5 years or longer.
Letzol-Sure 2.5 dosage: how to take it
- The usual dose is 2.5 mg (one tablet) once a day, at around the same time each day.
- Swallow the tablet whole with water. You can take it with or without food.
- The length of treatment is set by your oncology team – do not stop or change the dose without talking to them first.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is nearly time for the next one. Never take two doses at once.

Who should not take Letzol-Sure 2.5?
Do not take Letzol-Sure 2.5 if you:
- Are not yet through the menopause (premenopausal)
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Are allergic to letrozole or any other ingredient of the tablet
Talk to your doctor first if you have osteoporosis or a history of fractures, severe liver or kidney disease, high cholesterol, or heart disease.
Letrozole can cause tiredness and dizziness – take care when driving or using machines.
Letzol-Sure 2.5 drug interactions
Tell your doctor about every medicine you take, including those bought without a prescription and herbal products. Important interactions include:
- Tamoxifen – taking it together can lower letrozole levels in the blood, so the two are not normally taken at the same time.

Can letrozole be taken with tamoxifen?
